Nokia Confirms Its Upcoming Android Phone After Its Images Get Leaked
We all have been hearing rumours about Nokia switching its operating system from Symbian to Android, for quite some time now – finally a glimpse of ‘’Normandy’’ might calm your nerves.
The images of the upcoming low-end Android handset from Nokia were leaked on Twitter by @evleaks – a phone-news leaker.
The phone looks a lot like its predecessor ‘’Lumia’’. Nokia, however, has stated that the smartphone would be something beyond what appears in the leaked photos.
Nokia is planning to replace the low-end Android phones with the Asha line, which would be compatible with its functionality, and would consist of a broad spectrum app library developed as well as distributed by Nokia.
Asha line is highly popular in the developing markets, although there are concerns regarding the switch-over to Android.
Windows Phone has apparently been successful in a few international markets, particularly in Latin America, but it has been facing difficulties with developer support, similar to Asha.
There is a strong possibility that Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia could interfere with the program, but a few sources from The Verge have confirmed that the development would continue. More than changing the name from ‘’Normandy’’ to something else, is, of course selling the phone as a product of Nokia, instead of Microsoft.
